Mary-Kate and Ashley attended last night’s Counsil of Fashion Designers of America. They looked great, Mary-Kate went for red lips and metallic smokey eyes, while Ashley appeared with a more nude look and dark eyebrows. Most pictures are MQ, but I’ve got a few HQs.

How does Mary-Kate create that unique look of hers? Does she spend hours getting ready to look like that, well actually.. no:

Mary-Kate Olsen is baffled by her status as an international fashion icon – because she created her sloppy bohemian style by accident. Olsen’s tattered and torn look coined the BoHo chic style that was immediately imitated throughout the world.

But the 22-year-old insists she’s just too lazy to put clothes on. She says, “For me it was laziness. I wore my pyjamas and threw on whatever was warm enough. It still amazes me. It’s just layers and it doesn’t make any sense to me at all.”

So it’s a done deal then, apparantly the shoes shoud be hitting the shops in 2009.. Only at Steve Madden stores though.

Dualstar Entertainment Group has entered into an exclusive shoe license agreement with Steven Madden, Ltd.  for Elizabeth and James branded footwear. Under the creative direction of Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, Steven Madden, Ltd. is creating its own infrastructure including a dedicated designer and salesperson to head the Elizabeth and James footwear division. The line will debut at luxury global retailers mid-2009.

Mary-Kate Olsen stated, “We are excited to partner with Steve Madden to create the new Elizabeth and James footwear line. With their proven experience in all aspects of design, production and distribution, we intend to take the contemporary shoe market to a new level.”

Ever wanted to spend a day in the Olsen’s shoes, well you might son be able to, quite literally as the girls appear to be in talks to design their own footwear!

Hollywood’s most stylish twins are expanding their clothing empire to include footwear! Elle UK is reporting that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are teaming up with Steve Madden to create a new line of shoes.

Both MK and Ashley will serve as co-creative directors for the line, unlike their fashion lines, where Ashley controls the Row and MK controls Elizabeth & James.

The line is expected to hit Steve Madden stores early next year. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!

As early as next Fall, that’s Autumn over here, lol you could see MKA’’s fashion label on Men’s clothing! According to the most recent reports the girls are set to launch a mens collection:

It looks like Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen have set their eyes on men’s wear for their high-end label The Row. Few details could be learned, but Ashley Olsen, who originally conceived the line, is said to have started conceptualizing the men’s collection, which could launch as soon as next fall.

Well I guess sisters can’t always get along, and according to news reports the current problem is fashion related, as Ashley reportedly asks MK to take a step back to sort out her life:

Identical twins Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, 22, created two clothing lines, a couture collection called The Row and a less expensive line called Elizabeth and James. But it sounds like their fashion business is suffering, because of their vastly different lifestyles.

“Ashley really wants to be a respected businesswoman and be taken seriously,” a pal tells InTouch. “MK does too, but she hasn’t been willing to give up her lifestyle and act like an adult for their job.” So Ashley is now distancing her twin from the couture line.  She reportedly decided MK should not be involved with The Row and has asked her to step back from her current responsibilities “until she has her personal life together.

MK is left to focus on the cheap stuff, er, the more affordable line, Elizabeth and James, “It’s tough because The Row was so much of Mary-Kate’s idea. Mary-Kate has a unique fashion sense,” notes the insider.
