Talk about happy feet! Children in Honduras were recently treated to one-on-one shoe fittings with designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who visited the Central American country to deliver footwear on behalf of TOMS. The actresses partnered with the charitable brand to create a limited-edition line of shoes through their label The Row; in celebration of the collaboration, they brought brand new pairs of TOMS’s everyday walking shoes to needy kids from three different communities outside the city of Tegucigalpa. The sisters were joined by a group of volunteers, and when they weren’t fitting feet, they visited classrooms and played soccer with the locals. “Having the opportunity to be a part of something so meaningful has made the collaboration with TOMS special to everyone at The Row,” Mary-Kate told WWD earlier this year. The TOMS + The Row shoes themselves, available in gray, black and plaid for $140-$150, are made of Italian wool and cashmere blends with lamb leather lining and black suede insoles. And just like TOMS’s everyday shoes, proceeds from sales of these cozy classics will benefit the greater good: for every pair of TOMS + The Row shoes sold, a child in need will receive a new pair of shoes
Mary-kate and Ashley Olsen are auctioning off a chance to meet them at the offices of their New York clothing label to raise money for the Japan relief effort.
The twins have offered the prize for an online sale at CharityBuzz.com, which is benefiting the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund following the devastating tremor and tsunami in the country last month (Mar11).
Other items going under the hammer include a chance to meet Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and attend a photoshoot for the magazine, a stay at Diane von Furstenberg’s beach house in the Bahamas, and lunch with fashion designer Tory Burch.
Bidding ends on Thursday (28Apr11).
With a 2011 CFDA Award nomination under their two-for-one belt, it’s safe to say that the Olsen twins have established themselves as respected fashion designers.
While we’re big fans of their luxury line, the Row, we’re particularly fond of their more contemporary – and more affordable – everyday line, Elizabeth and James.
That’s why, in light of their successful sunglasses collection, we’re super-excited to hear that MKA is launching optical eyewear frames under that lower-priced label.
Specs come in a range of retro styles, like the above frames, called The Pearl, and are all priced under $300. See more styles here.
We all know that these girls tend to think big, so we can’t wait to see what else the designing duo has up their exceptionally chic sleeves.

The famous celebrity twins got some help in creating the site. They created it along with MySpace founder Josh Berman. Come July, fashionistas will have a new site t help them out with their shopping!
So what will StyleMint.com be like basically? Women’s Wear Daily describes it as a site that will be both an e-commerce and social media platform. It will provide personalized shopping experience. But first they would have to fill out a questionnaire that will be a gauge of what their style is. The site will send fashion suggestions, latest trends based on the information provided in the questionnaire.
The products to be offered at StyleMint.com will be designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley. They will start with a collection of T-shirts that will retail for $29.99.
